*Please Note: The frame is not a real frame, it is part of the painting, Trompe l'oeil," to fool the eye".
With subtle influences by Matisse, Van Gogh, Picasso and a few masters of trompe l'oeil, I have created this painting from my imagination with humorous intentions. A somewhat classic "Reclining Nude"' poises for the artist with a mischievous gleam in her eye. The artist, of course is my cat, Dude, and he is nearly finished with his Picasso style painting. I find I tilt my head to the left so I can see more of his painting around his big head. In addition to borrowing the title (in part) from Matisse, as a tribute to him I have used an alternative modern day snack of Goldfish crackers instead of an actual bowl of goldfish. After all, he was fond of cats and knew what they love!
Seriously now, I have various styles within this painting and hope that the trompe l'oeil frame has pulled them all together, finishing as realistically as I care to paint.
Acrylic painting on canvas, 22"x28"x1.5" , with the painting on the sides to continue the illusion.
