This is a watercolor and acrylic painting of a passing gondola on the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. It was a late spring day, overcast and misty with a unusual warm glow, and I was mesmerized by the luminosity of the water. The light is Venice is incredible!
Welcome to my gallery! I am an artist/printmaker, currently living in Whangarei, New Zealand. What I love, where I live, and especially where I have traveled inspire the art you will see here. Recent works are acrylic paintings, watercolor, mixed media, monotypes, and digital art. , I have had a keen interest in archaeology and the art of ancient civilizations for many years, especially as I studied ancient art and Pre-Columbian art history at the University of North Carolina-Asheville, where I received a BFA in 1994. With my focus in printmaking, I developed a body of work inspired by the Aztec and Mayan pyramids in Mexico. This work led to an award of a Fulbright Scholarship to Peru (1995 - 1996) to study art and printmaking, and...
