Working at the Reyburn House Art Gallery as a volunteer helping with hanging a variety of exhibitions and working as a gallery attendant has inspired this painting. The Reyburn House was built around 1875 and is the home of the Northland Society of Arts in the Town Basin of Whangarei, New Zealand. As this experience has increased my appreciation for all forms of art, I have mixed fantasy with reality, the past, the present, and hope for the future. With my recent fascination with perspective, space, and light, I have attempted to express these elements within this beautiful gallery with the warmth of the Kauri floors to lead the viewer through the exhibition with the contrast of humour and sincerity. Welcome to my gallery! I am an artist/printmaker, currently living in Whangarei, New Zealand. What I love, where I live, and especially where I have traveled inspire the art you will see here. Recent works are acrylic paintings, watercolor, mixed media, monotypes, and digital art. , I have had a keen interest in archaeology and the art of ancient civilizations for many years, especially as I studied ancient art and Pre-Columbian art history at the University of North Carolina-Asheville, where I received a BFA in 1994. With my focus in printmaking, I developed a body of work inspired by the Aztec and Mayan pyramids in Mexico. This work led to an award of a Fulbright Scholarship to Peru (1995 - 1996) to study art and printmaking, and...
